What is your position with The Courvilles?
I’m currently the Staff Development Coordinator and an Infection Preventionist. My job entails staff education and support, as well as heading our infection prevention program.
Can you share a little about your journey to The Courvilles?
I’ve been employed with the Courville Communities since 2010. I ventured to Courville at Manchester to further my nursing career and become apart of the management care team. I value the attitude and mission of the Courville Communities. We aim to provide a high standard of care and encourage those residents we care for to live their best lives.
What do you think makes the Courvilles unique?
Courville Communities is a unique care community in that we strive to go above and beyond for residents and employees. There is a level of autonomy when working for a privately-owned company. The staff and residents have a voice and the owners work very closely with employees and residents to fulfill their needs.
What does your typical day look like?
I begin each day greeting the staff and touching base on any concerns that may have arisen over the evening. I like to tackle any situation head-on and address things as soon as possible. I of course have other management duties and responsibilities that I manage throughout the day. I typically go around the units to talk with the staff and residents, and assisting when needed to ensure a smooth day for everyone. I work hard to make sure that everyone’s needs are being met in a timely manner.
Do you have any great/memorable moments from your time at The Courvilles?
Ahh… there are so many it’s difficult to chose just one! I’d have to say some of the greatest, most memorable moments are when we receive a patient that have unfortunately become ill and weakened, and as a team we work together to make what seems like an impossible goal become real. It’s great when we are able to help that patient to get strong, heal and return to their home and keep on their journey.
What would you tell a family who may be considering bringing their loved one to The Courvilles?
I would tell them that the Courvilles provide care to not only your family member but also yourself. We try to treat each person and family as if they are one of our personal family members. Personally, I’ve been fortunate to have my closest relatives and friends experience the excellent care that the Courville Communities offers.
